Cooking with cannabis: New cookbooks tempt your tastebuds

Any munchies-bound cannabis enthusiast loves food, from the most culinary inclined all the way down to the lowest-level microwaved ramen noodles chefs, and anywhere in between.

But infusing your home cooking with cannabis is a whole other story.

Whether you only have experience making sweet edible treats, you’ve never tried making your own edibles, or you’ve ventured into infused savoury main courses, there is a cannabis cookbook perfect for your level.

We’ve created a list of cookbooks that are perfect for everything from dinner parties, packing treats for camping, or eating desserts alone in your pyjamas, and will absolutely take your infused indulgences to a higher level!

The perfect place to start off is with a book made for people just starting to get into the edible cooking game with Cannabis Culinary Adventures: A Beginner’s Guide to Crafting Infused Delights and Elevating Your Edibles Experience. Maybe a little wordy, but its point still stands. This cookbook ventures through infused olive oils, quick snacks, and indulgent desserts with easy to follow recipes that feature a variety of taste and dietary preferences. Definitely a great book for us cannabis-cooking rookies wanting to try a little bit of everything.

Another option comes from country music legend Willie Nelson and his wife Annie in the aptly named: Willie and Annie Nelson’s Cannabis Cookbook. With Willie already being a well known connoisseur of cannabis, the cookbook draws from their favorite meals on nationwide tours, at the ranch, at home, and from all the cities along the way to create all their best cannabis infused recipes. All things combined make this an awesome gift for any fan of Willie or Annie Nelson, someone who loves country music, or just anyone looking for more inspiration in their cannabis infused cooking.

For those with a sweet tooth, a wide range of infused treats are made easy in Sugar High: 50 Recipes for Cannabis Desserts: A Cookbook. Not only will author Chris Sayegh lay out how to create infused treats such as creamy coconut gelato, strawberry shortcake, brown butter salted chocolate chip cookies, and so much more, but also guides the reader on choosing the optimal strain and strength of cannabis. Having this guide alongside its recipes makes it a great book to keep going back to in your future infusing adventures!

Last on the list is The Cannabis Kitchen Cookbook, which offers a whopping 116 different weed infused recipes. This cookbook offers basics such as infused olive oil, main courses like a cannabis curry with eggplant and lentils, small bites like smokin’ grilled corn, sweet treats like carrot cake, and even drinks such as cannabis coconut mojitos! While many cookbooks focus solely on desserts, this is great option to venture out into the wide world of culinary cannabis and really see how our favourite herb can be incorporated into any course of your meal.
