Back in October 2020, Jima Cannabis began as a small BC-based business, with a focus that included intentional expansion into the rest of Canada. They recently acquired Ontario-based retailer, High Tea Cannabis Co., a brand well-known in Ontario, making Jima a multi-location, national brand. The two cannabis brands fit well together, both focused on providing reliable and trusted information on products, great customer service and community connections.
A grand opening
After much anticipation, planning and hard work, the Jima team is pleased to announce a Nov. 20 opening date for their new Douglas Street location in downtown Victoria, focused on bringing BC’s best to the capital’s community.
They invite you to come down and see what they have to offer. On site, local coffee retailer, 2% Jazz Coffee will provide coffee for attendees, and local food truck, Bird and Basket will provide their unique brand of tasty takeout.
“We are super excited to bring a brand that people know and trust to Victoria,” says Allison Di Tomaso, Manager, Brand and Marketing for Jima Cannabis.
Jima’s core team boasts many years of industry expertise, and they want to share that extensive knowledge base with their customers.
Recognizing that every region is unique in its cannabis culture, having a larger commercial footprint means that Jima can tailor its local product line, while still offering competitive prices — and its knowledgeable staff are all part of the culture at Jima.

Island style
Jima’s brand began on the West Coast, and they pride themselves on their coastal attitude, putting community first.
This past summer, their Abbotsford location was the first of several opening in BC. In addition to their Douglas Street store, a second Victoria store is coming soon on Yates Street, with Cambie Street and Kitsilano locations opening soon in Vancouver.
Beyond bringing their brand of industry expertise and experience to the table, Jima is committed to being part of the local community.
“We pride ourselves on our community involvement,” Allison states. “Whether that be tailoring our products by location so people can find what they want, or by parting with local business and charities, community is central to our values.”
